Marco VENUTI

Assistant Professor of English language, translation and linguistic [ANGL-01/C]

Marco Venuti, PhD in ESP at the Università di Napoli Federico II, is a tenured Researcher in English Linguistics at the Department of Humanities, Università di Catania, where he teaches Corpus Linguistics and ESP modules.

He is a founding member of the I-LanD (Identity Language and Diversity) inter-university Research Centre, as well as a founding member of the CInUm (Centro di Informatica Umanistica) and of the Neuro Humanities Research Centre at the University of Catania. He is currently the Department delegate to the coordination of research in Digital Humanities and Digital Sociology as well as a member of the Department Commission on Research activities. 

He has recently been the P.I. of an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary project on Online Journalism (2020-2024), and is at present the Department PI of and interdepartmental research project on Crisis in/of Democracy, coordinating research on populism and the use of social media platforms. 

His research interests focus on Critical Discourse Analysis, Corpus Assisted Discourse Studies, News Discourse, Political Discourse, Institutional Discourse, the role of Social Media in the public sphere, and the relationship between language and gender.
