Giuliana RUSSO

Associate Professor of English language, translation and linguistic [ANGL-01/C]

M.A., PhD, she has been teaching English linguistics and translation since 2006 at the Department of Humanities of the University of Catania. Since 2022, she has been an Associate Professor in the same department. She has taught courses for the professional training of teachers, such as SiSS, PAS, CLIL, ASFI in the fields of language and methodology. She has also taught in the PhD programme in English and American Studies at DISUM and at the Scuola Superiore of the University of Catania, where she is currently a tutor. She has been recently appointed to the Management Committee and to the Technical-Linguistic Committee of the University Language Center (CLA) of the University of Catania.

Since 1999, she has carried out continuous research in the fields of diachronic and synchronic English linguistics, as well as the theory and practice of translation. She has participated, both as an organizer and as a speaker, in national and international conferences, and has collaborated on research groups and projects at the local (Prometeo), national (PRIN), and international (Prescriptivism) levels. She edited the entry on “William Cobbett,” a 19th-century linguist and radical politician, for the international reference work Lexicon Grammaticorum. She has also published in national and international journals.
