  Gli Studi Culturali in UK e US. Le serie televisive e la cultura statunitense.

   

  Saper fare (Competenze)

  Uso critico di Media Studies e Television Studies, con riferimento alla rappresentazione/decostruzione degli stereotipi culturali statunitensi nelle serie televisive (case study: “The Simpsons”, Fox TV).

• AMERICAN ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES

  Consolidamento delle abilità linguistiche e comunicative a livello C2 del Common European Frame of Reference for Languages.

  Nel contesto multietnico e multilinguistico della società statunitense, che richiede competenze comunicative di natura interculturale, la prima parte del corso (1) mira a esaminare il rapporto fra lingua e identità - e il modo in cui l’ideologia dominante ne cancella il nesso - relativamente al caso degli hyphenated Americans.

  La seconda parte (2) mira a indagare l’uso specifico della lingua nell’ambito del discorso politico fornendo gli strumenti linguistici necessari alla decodifica e all’interpretazione critica dei messaggi in riferimento all’ultima campagna per le elezioni presidenziali.

  Si richiede una conoscenza della lingua inglese di livello C1.

  Abilità linguistiche e comunicative a livello C1 del Common European Frame of Reference for Languages.

  Fonetica contrastiva (differenze fra British English e American English).

  Elementi di pragmatica, analisi del discorso e Critical Discourse Analysis.

  Modulo 1 (3 CFU, 18 ore) “Introduzione agli Studi Culturali”

  Introduzione agli Studi Culturali britannici e nordamericani (studi etnici, storia materiale, studi di genere; in particolare, media and TV studies).

  Modulo 2 (3 CFU, 18 ore) “La TV nello specchio dei Simpsons”

  La rappresentazione critica degli stereotipi culturali statunitensi nel serial televisivo più longevo d’America (1990s-2010s).

• AMERICAN ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES

  1) La diversità linguistica e culturale degli Stati Uniti

  American English: processi di variazione e standardizzazione linguistica; culture e dialetti etnici (identità afro-americane, ispano-americane, asiatico-americane; African American Vernacular English, Chicano English, Spanglish).

  2) Analisi del discorso politico

  Definizione e approcci allo studio del discorso politico; il rapporto tra discorso politico, media e produzione linguistica; i generi della comunicazione politica; analisi linguistica di testi significativi prodotti nell’ultima campagna presidenziale secondo la prospettiva del Critical Discourse Analysis.
