Expected Learning Outcomes
Consistent with Dublino descriptors, the course aims
to make students acquire:
- the knowledge and understanding of the main issues concerning archiving:
from the management of the archive in its various stages of life to the history
of the national archival heritage, from research and ordering methodologies to
the methods of conservation and transmission of documentary memory;
- the ability to critically and autonomously analyze and understand the
different documentary typologies through exercises in the classroom and in the
city archives;
- the ability to know how moving in the vast and
varied word of historical archives thanks to the knowledge of their history and
their forms of representation;
- the ability to recognize the peculiarity of archives
as an organic set of interrelated documents in the structure of a fund and in a
specific historical-institutional context;
- the ability to develop independent judgment,
communication skills and civic sense in relation to knowledge and understanding
of the role of archives: from the correct practice of archival organization to
ensure transparency and efficiency to the public administration and certainty
of the right of citizens to the activities of protection, promotion and
enhancement as a historical memory.
Course Structure
Traditional lectures and guided tours in the archive.
Required Prerequisites
No prerequisites required.
Attendance of Lessons
Attendance is not compulsory.
Detailed Course Content
Examining evolutionary and general lines of the creation processes,
storing and preservation of archives as well as the issues related to
descriptive methods and the creation of research tools.

Learning Assessment Procedures
The assessment of the exam will take into account the mastery of the
acquired contents and skills, the linguistic accuracy and lexical properties,
as well as the argumentative ability demonstrated by the candidate.
