Expected Learning Outcomes

According to the Dublin descriptors, students, at the end of the course, will demonstrate:

1) Knowledge and understanding

methodological knowledge and skills to understand the main artistic phenomena and related critical readings; skills to analyze works of art.

2) Applying knowledge and understanding

ability to apply the acquired knowledge with specific attention to the philological analysis of the images, contextualizing them in the historical and cultural context of reference.

3) Making judgements

autonomy of method and ability to compare and integrate information.

4) Communication skills

ability to communicate clearly and to use the specific language of art history.

5) Learning skills

skills to examine works of art and to read the literary sources.

Detailed Course Content

The course provide the fundamentals of art history from Neoclassicism to the second half of the 20th century, delving into movements, artists and works crucial to critical junctures and developments in contemporary art.
