
Raffaele ZAGO
Raffaele Zago (PhD in English Linguistics) is Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Catania, Department of Humanities. His research interests are in the field of English applied linguistics and include spoken English, register variation, corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, telecinematic dialogue and informal contact with English. In these areas, he has published two monographs (From Originals to Remakes. Colloquiality in English Film Dialogue over Time, 2016; Cross-linguistic Affinities in Film Dialogue, 2018) and various other contributions. He is co-editor of the volumes Language, Expressivity and Cognition (Bloomsbury, 2023) and English Studies in Italy: New Directions and Perspectives (Carocci, 2024) and co-author of the volume In Contact with English. Informal Media-driven Learning among Italian University Students (Carocci, 2025). He is local coordinator of the national project The Informalisation of English Language Learning through the Media: Language Input, Learning Outcomes and Sociolinguistic Attitudes from an Italian Perspective (PRIN). Also, he serves as departmental advisor for Erasmus and Internationalisation.
