CHINESE LANGUAGE AND TRANSLATION 1

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, the student will be able to read and understand

simple texts in modern Chinese; translate sentences from Italian to

Chinese and vice versa; produce very short written compositions; have a

simple conversation in Chinese. The student will also be able to

recognize some traditional characters used in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

9 credits: First approach with Mandarin Chinese up to a basic level. The

student must demonstrate a good command of the basic elements of the

Chinese language; you will need to be able to read and write about 500

characters. At the end of the first year, the student will be able to have a

simple conversation on topics related to his person and the surrounding

environment, while also being able to read and translate simple texts in

common use. The skills acquired at the end of the course will correspond

to those required for passing level 2 of the HSK exam, Chinese Language

Proficiency Test (汉语 水平 考试).
