Gonzalo Suárez Lovelle (Las Palmas, 1998) works as Collaboratore Esperto Lingüístico (CEL) Spanish native speaker at the University of Catania. His educational and academic interests include linguistics and foreign language learning, translation and interpretation, glottodidactics and particularly the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language (E/LE).

Gonzalo Suárez Lovelle holds a four-year degree in Modern Languages and Translation from the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares (2020) with a thesis entitled: 'Translating Cultural References from English into Spanish in A. Aciman's (2019) novel Find Me' (Supervisor: Prof. Maya García de Vinuesa). During his degree studies, he was awarded two scholarships to engage in international exchanges in Montreal (Canada) at the Université de Montréal (a.y. 2018/2019) and in Forlì (Italy) at the University of Bologna (a.y. 2019/2020).

He subsequently obtained a Laurea Magistrale in Conference Interpreting at the University of Bologna (2023) with a final project entitled: "Corpus EFCIC: estrategias de pregunta y respuesta en ruedas de prensa futbolísticas interpretadas simultáneamente de español a inglés" (Supervisor: Prof. Mariachiara Russo; Co-supervisor: Prof. Adriano Ferraresi; final mark: 109/110). During this period, he participated in the ReACTme programme in medical interpreting and at the end of it, he was awarded the America Giovani Award by the Fondazione Italy USA for academic merit.

He is also examiner for the DELE Diplomas (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera) issued by the Instituto Cervantes for levels A1-A2, A1-A2/B1 for young learners and B1-B2 of the CEFR.
