Expected Learning Outcomes

Students at the end of the course should achieve:

1) Knowledge and understanding: to know the changes that have taken place in reading and writing (also from a diachronic perspective), and therefore to understand the dynamics between text, author and reader in the digital age.

2) Applying knowledge and understanding: finding lexically and semantically relevant elements to understand, analyze and rewrite/re-mediate different textual typologies.

3) Making judgments: critically interpreting texts based on the data collected.

4) Communication skills: to be able to communicate the results of research and the methodological choices, highlighting the crucial aspects, using resources of the various textual genres, both in writing and in oral form.

5) Learning skills: encouraging the development of one's own strategies and models for reading, understanding, analyzing and writing texts.

Detailed Course Content

B. The text as a multiverse (2 ECTS). Cesare Pavese, a case-study: the author and his reception; beyond the author: seventy years after his death and digital afterlife; the text: a concordance reading.

C. Reading to write (1 ECTS). Tips for writing: lightness, speed, accuracy, visibility, multiplicity, beginning and conclusion.

D. Writing to be read (2 ECTS). Actors and scenarios: texts and hypertexts, production, mediation and reading. Technologies: writers and machines. Techniques: short writing, effective writing, examples.

During the course, students will also work on short texts of different types (journalistic, non-fiction, popular, from journals, podcasts, social media), not exceeding 50 pp., which will be provided through the platform Studium.
