SPANISH LANGUAGE: SECTORAL LANGUAGES

Expected Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course the students will have acquired the notions inherent to the sectorial languages of Spanish. The teaching leads to a morphosyntactic, lexical and communicative competence of professional registers of the sectoral languages ​​of Spanish. The student will know the main characteristics of the sectoral languages ​​of the Spanish language and will be able to analyze texts belonging to different textual genres in the economic, legal, technical-scientific, tourism, advertising, etc.

Course Structure

The course includes lectures with student participation and exercises. The theoretical part (30 hours) will be centered on the languages for specific purposes in scientific-technical, economic, legal, publicity and tourism field.  

Required Prerequisites

Knowledge of the Spanish language level B1 plus.

 

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance is not mandatory but it is recommended.

Detailed Course Content

The course provides a general overview of Spanish specialized languages, with special emphasis on the lexical, morpho-syntactic and textual aspects, through the analysis of texts belonging to the technical-scientific, economic, legal, touristic and publicity field. 
The texts are designed to strengthen the students’ oral and written skills through the reading and discussion (written and oral) of texts related to the languages studied in the theoretical prospect.

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment Procedures

The written test focuses on the commentary on a sectional passage in Spanish. It will be possible to access the oral exam if the written test is sufficient (18 aou of 30). The use of the dictionary is not allowed. At the oral exam the student will have to answer theoretical questions about the program. 

The assessment of the exam will take into account the mastery of the contents and skills acquired, linguistic accuracy and lexical properties, as well as the argumentative ability demonstrated by the candidate.

Examples of frequently asked questions and / or exercises

The oral exam takes place in Spanish and focuses on the presentation of a "tarea" of free choice on one of the languages of the program, which must be taken to the exam. In addition, two theoretical questions will have to be answered on the topics studied, for example: advertising language and its mail characteristics, the lexicon of journalistic language, typology of tourist texts, tec.
