Expected Learning Outcomes

During the second year, the student will have to demonstrate a complete mastery of the basic elements of the Japanese language required for passing the N5 level of the JLPT: syntax, writing, but also elementary dialogue skills, reading and comprehension of various kinds of texts. At the end of the second year, the student will be able to master not only complex syntactic-grammatical structures, but also increasingly articulated everyday conversations. In addition, the student will be able to start developing translation skills through assisted exercises.

Definitely, according to the Dublin descriptors, the student will learn increasingly complex grammar constructs and will develop an intermediate level of knowledge and understanding. He will also be able to apply what he/she have learned, in both written and oral form. Thanks to lessons with a mother tongue teacher, the student will be able to improve his/her communication skills, both in oral and written form.

The course is aimed to deepen the students’ knowledge of Japanese Language in order to achieve the fourth level (N4) of the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test).

Course Structure

Frontal instruction.

Listening/Audiovisual Comprehension.

Oral and written exercises with a Japanese native speaker.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance is not compulsory

Morphology, syntax, phonetics and phonology. Theory and practice of translation (of literary and non-literary texts).
