Vincenzo Nicolò Di Caro (Ph.D., Ca’ Foscari University of Venice) is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Catania, where he is working on a research project (SSD: L-LIN/01) called ‘Analisi linguistica quali-quantitativa dei tratti settentrionali e meridionali nel lessico delle varietà galloitaliche della Sicilia’”, funded by the PRIN 2022 PNRR research project called ‘Contact-induced change and sociolinguistics: an experimental study on the Gallo-Italic dialects of Sicily’ (cod. P2022YWS8T, CUP E53D23019660001), supervised by Salvatore Menza.
As a postdoctoral researcher at Ca’ Foscari, he has worked on a sociolinguistic project on the role of Social Media in (dis)favouring bilingualism in those subjects who speak Italian and another non-standard Italo-Romance variety.
His main interests lie in the documentation and the promotion of the benefits of bilectalism, the morpho-syntactic aspects of verbal periphrases, and the grammaticalisation of restructuring verbs in the Romance languages.
