Expected Learning Outcomes

1) Knowledge and Understanding

knowledge and understanding of the main methodologies of historical, literary, philological analysis and documentary research; general knowledge of historical and literary phenomena from antiquity to the contemporary age and the ability to understand the critical problems connected to them and their links with artistic phenomena.

 

2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding

the ability to contextualise literary texts and works within their respective periods of production, devising and structuring effective arguments and solving problems in their field of study.

 

3) Making Judgements

the ability to reprocess the data deemed useful for drawing appropriate conclusions, critically evaluating the main methodological tools of the humanities.

 

4) Communication Skills

the ability to communicate orally and in writing, effectively and appropriately, to both specialist and general audiences, using registers suited to each recipient.

 

5) Learning Skills

the competences necessary to independently carry out documentation tasks and in-depth study in specific fields.

Course Structure

The course includes a first module aimed at the acquisition of basic historical knowledge on contemporary Italian literature (poetics, trends, genres, authors and works) and a second module aimed at the full reading of six canonical works with the support of critical studies and teaching monographs.
