These activities will be integrated with exercise moments (which will also be valid as ongoing tests) in which students will have to identify and map artifacts characterizing the widespread architectural heritage, analyze them critically and evaluate the possibilities of valorization.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance is not compulsory.

Detailed Course Content

The course is aimed at providing students with a theoretical, interpretative and applicative basis with reference to the architectural heritage and the tools for its enhancement with particular reference to the historical, cultural and social aspects. The teaching contents will alternate theoretical arguments of a cultural and scientific nature with case studies.

A first part of the course will address, also on a historical evolutionary level, concepts such as architectural heritage, landscape, intangible heritage, protection and enhancement also with reference to the role of communities and institutions.

Starting from this basic framework, the themes of enhancement will then be developed in cultural, social and economic terms with particular attention to the aspects of fruition and accessibility and the involvement of local communities.

The methods, tools, processes and techniques applicable to different scales and in different contexts will be explored in depth: from the programming and planning level, through actions and projects on individual artifacts and goods, up to the opportunities provided by new technologies (including digital) both in terms of product and process.

Through the presentation of practical examples, operational tools will be explored and explained to analyze, define and manage interventions on the built heritage, integrating technical, cultural, regulatory and communicative aspects, with a view to sustainability, inclusiveness and technological innovation.
