Expected Learning Outcomes

To prove knowledge and ability to understand the texts of Italian literature proposed during the course; to prove knowledge of the history of Italian literature from the thirteenth to the sixteenth century. To show knowledge of the main critical and interpretative methodologies of the literary text and the ability to apply them, with philological and historical awareness.

To demonstrate having reached a reasonable level of autonomy of judgement in order to be able to approach a literary text in a methodologically aware manner.

To demonstrate having acquired the necessary communication skills both written (during in itinere tests) and oral and a good discipline-specific vocabulary.

Detailed Course Content

The course offers in the first module an introductory-methodological approach to Italian Literature. The following modules offer a diachronic itinerary in Italian Literature from the 13th to the 16th century: the main authors and the most significant works of our literary history will be analysed, placing them appropriately in the historical period and in the literary and geographical context to which they belong. The proposed paths are chronological and divided as follows: from the origins to Dante; Petrarca and Boccaccio; Humanism and Renaissance.
