Contemporary French and Francophone Literature

The course aims to deepen the dynamics of modern French and Francophone literature, according to the Dublin descriptors,  through 1) the comprehension and 2) analysis of literary genres. After a careful examination of the specificities of the different genres, emphasis will be put on the theatrical genre, through a whole series of literary and critical texts, which will highlight some key moments. Finally, a reflection will be made on the specificity of French and francophone cinema. Focus will be placed on paths aimed at 3) thesis learning and developing written and oral production skills, 4) autonomous judgment and document synthesis activities to foster 5) learning skills.

At the student's choice, three poetry collections, three theatrical works and three novels of French and Francophone literature of the twentieth century and contemporary.

During the exam, the student will present a paper on a topic of their choice.

The test will be in French and will take into account critical competence and the wealth of intertextual and intersemiotic references.

The assessment of the exam will take into account the mastery of the contents and skills acquired, linguistic accuracy and lexical properties, as well as the argumentative ability demonstrated by the candidate.

Analyse des textes, comparaison des documents littéraires et artistiques, statut et représentations des genres littéraires, les théâtres des avant-gardes, entre texte et scène, l’importance de la mise en scène, le cinéma francophone face à l’histoire contemporaine, l’élaboration des textes classiques dans la modernité.
