Maria Carreras i Goicoechea (Barcelona, ​​Spain, 1965) graduated in Romance Philology from the University of Barcelona (1988) and in Modern Literature from the University of Pisa (1994). She obtained the Grado de Licenciatura (University of Barcelona, ​​1993), for which she received the Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura (Faculty of Philology, University of Barcelona, ​​1995). She won a three-year scholarship to complete a postgraduate course in Linguistics at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa (1989-1991) and obtained a PhD from the University of Barcelona (1997) with the thesis "A Comparative Study of Grammatical Discussions in Spain and Italy: Similarities and Differences in the 16th Century" (pp. 311).

In January 2004, she joined the University of Bologna (SITLEC Department, Forlì) as a full-time Researcher (RU), and since 2013 as a DIT. She has been a Senior Researcher since January 1, 2007. She teaches translation at SSLiMIT, and since 2013 at SLLTI, at its Forlì campus (University of Bologna). Since November 2, 2014, she has been a researcher at the University of Catania. From November 2014 to June 2020, she coordinated the Spanish Department of the Special Language Teaching Structure of the same University at the Ragusa campus, where she taught Spanish language and translation in the Bachelor's Degree (L12) and Master's Degree (LM37) programs. At the same time, she taught History of the Spanish Language in the Master's Degree (LM38) at the DISUM Catania campus, where she moved permanently in November 2017.
