2023 International Confucian Studies Summer Institute (From the 14th to the 26th of August, 2023)

Registration for the 2023 International Confucian Studies Summer Institute (From the 14th to the 26th of August, 2023) has been officially launched, please refer to the enrollment guide attached to this email. We hope to have around 60 participants from China and abroad attend this institute (half of them will be Chinese, the other half will be foreign visitors) to engage in learning together. Everyone will be awarded a Certificate of Participation at the end of their studies.

The general arrangements for this year’s Summer Institute are as follows:

1)    This Summer Institute is sponsored by the International Confucian Association and Beijing Foreign Studies University. It will be held from the 14th to the 26th of August, 2023. The venue will be in the city of Danyang, Jiangsu Province, P.R. China. 

2)    We will spend the 13 days of enriching Chinese cultural studies that will include: The Opening Ceremony, the Closing Ceremony, 10 sessions of cultural study classes conducted in English, 10 sessions of classes conducted in Mandarin Chinese, 4 Cultural Experiences (including the Tea Ceremony, the Guqin, Tai Qi and Moxibustion in Chinese Traditional Medicine), and 2 days of Cultural Practice Classes (conducted in Suzhou and Zhenjiang).

3)    The keynote lecturers for this year’s Summer Institute will be Professor Roger T. Ames (Peking University, World-Famous Teacher of Comparative Chinese-Western Philosophy) and Professor Tian Chenshan (Honorary Advisor of the International Confucian Association). Classes will also be held by Tenured Professor Robin Wang (Loyola Marymount University), Professor Sun Xiangchen (Fudan University), Profesor Sor-hoon Tan (Singapore Management University), Professor Hans Georg-Moeller (University of Macau), Professor Wen Haiming (Renmin University of China), Professor Du Baorui (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) and Professor Zhao Yanfeng (Peking University).
