ARCHAEOLOGY OF PROTOHISTORIC ITALY

Expected Learning Outcomes
In accordance with the
Dublin Descriptors, the course provides for the achievement of the following
learning objectives:
1) To know the general framework and development of
the main cultural groups of the Italian peninsula in the age between the
beginning of the Bronze Age and the Iron Age;
2) To know the problems related to settlement systems,
territorial organization, economic and symbolic systems.
3) To know how to deal independently with the study
and analysis of an archaeological context of the protohistoric period,
highlighting the elements that characterize its organization;
4) To know how to communicate the knowledge acquired,
deepening the themes that will be presented to the students' attention during
the course
Course Structure
Lectures. At an advanced stage of the course, students will
independently undertake the study of a particular complex or topic, which they
will present in seminar form.
Attendance of Lessons
Attendance is not compulsory.
Detailed Course Content
Methodology and history of protohistoric research;
definitions and concepts.
Chronological development and dating elements.
Archaeological facies: definition and characteristics.
Southern
Italy between the Bronze Age and the beginning of the Iron Age.
