ECONOMICS OF CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

Expected Learning Outcomes

The course introduces to the economic approach to cultural organisations illustrating the forms and strategies that these organisations can use to realise their objectives considering both the needs of their users and the budget constraints that can limit their activities.

The course aims to provide:

-    Knowledge and analytical skills to understand the state of the art of the cultural and creative sector.

-    The capacity to apply the notions acquired to analyse national and international case studies.

-    The capacity to collect and interpret cultural data referring also to the debate about the societal role of culture and its capacity to tackle current challenges.

-    The capacity to communicate the notions learnt and their application to case studies both to experts and non experts.

 The basis to develop further the analytical skills acquired in future learning trajectories.

Course Structure

The course consists of participative lectures.

Group works will be used to help students to apply the theoretical notions to case studies that the teacher or the same students will choose.

Guest lectures will also be organised to that experts will share their experience in managing a cultural organisation.

No prerequisites required.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance is not compulsory.
