Call for papers | CHAIN 2024

CULTURAL HERITAGE ROUTES
Safeguarding | Participation | Sustainable Development

On 27-29 February 2024 il Department of Humanities at the University of Catania will again be hosting CHAIN conference organised and run by the network of PhD students of Sciences of Cultural Heritage and Production. Now in its third edition, this initiative invites researchers, government bodies, and professionals from various sectors to discuss and debate the subject of Cultural Heritage Routes, to be understood here in both their geographical and symbolic senses; that is, as pathways of intersection and exchange between ‘routes’, aimed at safeguardingenhancing and sharing tangible and intangible cultural heritage

The meeting aims to promote an open debate between persons from different disciplinary backgrounds that are not necessarily related to the humanities in order to accommodate and compare different and innovative research ideas and approaches; for this purpose, three investigative lenses – safeguarding, participation, and sustainable development – are presented through which explore the main theme.

Contributions that explore the topics above at a theoretical level and / or through specific case studies will be selected for the conference. Please send your  proposal by 15th September 2023 (abstract of max. 300 words) in Italian or English, accompanied by a short author bio (max. 250 words) and an essential bibliography to the e-mail address: info@chain-conference.com. Acceptance to the conference will be communicated by e-mail by 15th October 2023.  Participation in the conference is subject to the payment of a fee for administrative expenses (25 €).  As in the past, the proceedings will be published following the conference. The meeting will be held in hybrid mode (i.e. in-person at the University of Catania and remotely).

All the details of the proposal are present in the attached call, also available online at www.chain-conference.com
