Salvatore SCARDILLI

Adjunct Professor

Graduated in Sociology at the University of Trento in 1977, with a research thesis in the field of Family Sociology on “Changes that occurred within the middle-class family in Catania” (supervised by Prof. Chiara Saraceno), Ministry of Public Education (MPI) teacher and subsequently psychoeducational operator; tutor in educational-didactic experimentation for individuals involved in criminal proceedings. He graduated in Psychology in 1988, with a research thesis in the field of Family Sociology on the “Sociological Aspects of the Marriage Market in Catania” (supervised by Prof. entity"people","Corrado Barberis","Italian sociologist". From 1993 to 2019, he served as a Psychologist Manager within the Regional Health System, with primary activities in the prevention and treatment of addictions. He received training in family psychotherapy and in leading experiential groups based on a psychodynamic approach. He is an expert in smoking cessation treatment. Since 1996, he has been active within the entity"organization","Associazione Unitaria Psicologi Italiani","Italian psychologists association", developing expertise in the organization of the National Health Service, with particular reference to the role of psychologists within the NHS. He served as an Honorary Judge from 2011 to 2019 at the entity "organization","Juvenile Court of Catania","Catania, Italy", mainly within the working group “Listening to Unaccompanied Foreign Minors.” Since 2020, he has been an adjunct lecturer at entity"organization","University of Catania","Italy", teaching psychological and sociological subjects. Since 2020, he has worked as a psychotherapist in private practice. Since 2022, he has worked as a psychologist and psychotherapist in rehabilitation programs for men who perpetrate violence (C.U.A.V.), with a particular focus on group facilitation.

VEDETTE Study - Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Treatments for Drug Addiction
VEdeTTe is a multicenter observational cohort study conducted at Drug Addiction Services (SerT) in 13 Italian regions, with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of treatments for heroin addiction on acute mortality, treatment retention, and other health and social reintegration outcomes.
It was carried out starting in 1998 in two phases:
