Simona Scattina is researcher (RTDb) in Theatre Studies at the Department of Humanities of the University of Catania.

He deals with dramaturgy of the twentieth century (Emma Dante, Gabriele Vacis, Marco Paolini, Laura Curino, Marco Baliani) according to interdisciplinary research perspectives in the light of recent acquisitions of visual culture and performing studies.

He was awarded the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Second-rank Professor in concurrency sector 10/C1 Theatre, Music, Cinema, Television and Audiovisual Media.

With Maria Rizzarelli and Mariagiovanna Italia, he edited the volume Sicilia negli occhi. I libri fotografici di Sciascia dalla A alla W (Bonanno, 2010) and with Alessandro Napoli the catalog La guerra…io dico la guerra. Metafore belliche nei cartelli della Marionettistica fratelli Napoli (Duetredue, 2015). She is author of monographs: Il Sergente di Marco Paolini. Epica, memoria, narrazione (Bonanno, 2011); Storie dipinte. I cartelli della Marionettistica fratelli Napoli (Algra, 2017) and «Non tutti vissero felici e contenti». Emma Dante tra fiaba e teatro (Titivillus, 2019).

She collaborates with the following periodicals: «Arabeschi. International journal of studies on literature and visuality» (www.arabeschi.it) and Siculorum Gymnasium (http://www.siculorum.unict.it/).

She is currently directing the following book series for Bonanno Editore: “Tascabili Teatro” and “Oltre il giardino”.
