In application of the Dublin descriptors:
1. to demonstrate knowledge and comprehension skills
through: the reading of case studies chosen from the panorama of historical
architectural heritage, set up on a methodology that allows the association of
technological innovation and lexical changes in architecture; the recognition
and placement of a work in the chronological and technological panorama of the
building process;
2. strengthen the ability to transfer methodologies to
other architectural artefacts, in different and new contexts;
3. to demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge, and
skills: in solving unfamiliar problems, set in interdisciplinary contexts
related to one's own field of study; in continuing to study and autonomously
face new scenarios that will arise in the course of one's professional life
4. to acquire the ability to integrate knowledge and
manage the complexity of case studies, as well as to make judgements on the
basis of hypotheses, limited or incomplete information, including reflection on
the social and ethical responsibilities attached to the judgements made
5. be able to communicate clearly, concisely and
unambiguously conclusions and evaluations, as well as the knowledge,
assumptions and rationale behind them, to specialist and non-specialist
interlocutors.
The course aims to provide the codes for reading
constructive forms and material characters as integral parts of architectural
expression. The spatial aspects of architecture will also be observed in the
light of a tectonic conception that links the art of building to the
geographical and historical aspects that establish its design principles.
We will adopt the text by Kennet Frampton that
addresses the theme of architectural design by placing the accent, as well as
on space, on the relationship between "Topos, Typos and Tectonic";
therefore settlement type, building type, structural typology, assigning to the
word type the meaning of ideal type of original model.
