Expected Learning Outcomes

1) Knowledge and understanding: Organization of complex elements of the civilization, culture, and literary works of German-speaking countries as factors aimed at identifying interdisciplinary intersections and experimentation; refinement of philological, linguistic, and literary-critical research methodologies, with particular emphasis on critical analysis through the study of literary texts.

2) Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: Development of critical thinking skills with regard to literary texts and other forms of cultural expression; ability to navigate bibliographical references through use of libraries and search engines; ability to engage with German-language literary texts in different contexts of everyday and professional life, with flexibility and critical thinking; ability to combine knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner and to interpret and connect different cultural contexts.

3) Independent judgment: Development of critical analysis skills that allow students to combine acquired literary and philological knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner and to interpret and connect different sociolinguistic and cultural contexts, both diachronic and synchronic.

4) Communication skills: Acquisition of the ability to express one's thoughts, projects, and study results in a detailed and complex manner; the ability to effectively and independently convey literary and cultural content.

5) Learning skills: Development of independent learning and self-management skills in the study of the literary and cultural materials, in order to relate and interact with diverse audiences and in different professional and cultural contexts.

Detailed Course Content

German-language literature from the post-World War II period to the contemporary era. In particular, through the reading, translation, and analysis of exemplary texts, the characteristics of: Trümmerliteratur, Literature of the economic boom, and Literature of the 1970s will be explored.
