FRENCH LINGUISTICS AND TRANSLATION

To achieve oral and written skills in French at C1 Plus level (Framework). 

According to the Dublin descriptors, students, at the end of the course, will demonstrate:

1)     Knowledge and understanding (principles of cultural translation and phraseotranslation)

2)     Applying knowledge and understanding (applying taxonomies in translation and in phraseotranslation)

3)     Making judgements (expressing a personal opinion on a topical issue; developing a mature translation awareness of French literary or topical texts)

4)     Communication skills (arguing, selecting examples from a corpus; understanding an authentic audiovisual document; summarising orally and in writing; synthesising the main ideas of an argumentative text; produce sociolinguistically appropriate utterances)
