Associate Professor since 2005 for the Scientific-Disciplinary Sector M-GGR/01 at the Department of Humanities of the University of Catania, she teaches Geography in the degree programs in Literature (L10) A-L and European, Euro-American, and Oriental Languages and Cultures (L11) M-Z, Cultural Geography in the degree program in Cultural Heritage, and Population and Territorial Geography in the two-year specialized program in Languages for International Cooperation (LM38).

Sorbello's scientific production deals mainly with topics related to the sustainable exploitation of landscapes, cultural tourism, local territorial systems, multiculturality and migratory flows in the Mediterranean
