Research:

In addition to my interests in modern philosophical thought, particularly French philosophy from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, I specialize in environmental ethics, focusing particularly on the World Heritage volcano, Mount Etna, on whose slopes I was born. Mount Etna, which, as H. Tuzet wrote, "has spoken the same language as man's subconscious over the centuries," is a world heritage site that has much to offer both philosophers and scientists, politicians and religious figures, entrepreneurs and farmers, and scholars and students who wish to explore and understand the surrounding landscape. "Italy," Federico Brusca wrote about Etna in 1926, "has this powerful and providential volcano, this terrible, beneficent volcano that offers health, peace, and happiness to all." Hence my aim to "communicate" Etna, through the organisation of seminars, conferences and thoughtful excursions in which ethical reflection marries with the beauty of a nature that has much to offer to those who listen to it.
