Enrico SPADARO
Biographical Note
He teaches French Language in lower secondary education, having successfully passed the national competitive examination announced by Ministerial Decree No. 499 of 21 April 2020 (and subsequent amendments) for the teaching qualification class AA25. He is currently based at the CPIA Catania 2 in Paternò (Catania, Italy).
In higher education, from the academic year 2021–2022 to 2023–2024, he served as Adjunct Lecturer in French Language for the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Linguistic and Intercultural Mediation (L-12) at the Special Educational Structure of Ragusa, Department of Humanities, University of Catania. He currently teaches French Language in the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Tourism Sciences (L-15) at the Department of Educational Sciences (DISFOR), as well as Legal English at the Department of Law of the University of Catania.
After obtaining a Master’s Degree in Literary and Non-fiction Translation (LM-37), specializing in English and French, from the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics of the University of Pisa, he moved to France, where he taught foreign languages at the IUT of Digne-les-Bains and pursued doctoral studies in Anglophone and Comparative Studies at the Doctoral School of Languages, Literature and Arts of Aix-Marseille University. On 30 November 2018, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, La littérature-monde de J.R.R. Tolkien, under the supervision of Professor Joanny Moulin.
Between 2020 and 2021, he held the Teach@Tübingen Research Fellowship at the University of Tübingen (Germany), where he also carried out teaching activities.
Alongside his research in linguistics and philology focusing on J.R.R. Tolkien, which has resulted in several scholarly publications, his research interests include the relationship between philology and political power, translation and Translation Studies, particularly within the Francophone Mediterranean context, and audiovisual translation for the dissemination of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
He also collaborates as a translator with Fine Art Produzioni, contributing to the organization of Firenze Archeofilm (Florence, Italy) and the Festival of Archaeological Documentary and Communication in Licodia Eubea (Catania, Italy).
