Detailed Course Content

The course is structured in three modules.

The first (A, 1 credit, prof. Schembari) synthetically deals with the foundations and evolution of the comparative study of literature, with particular reference to literary relationships and thematology.

The second module (B, 3 credits, prof. Schembari), after a historical-critical definition of the odeporic genre, focuses on some representative figures of travel writers between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, with a specific focus on travel writers in Sicily during the heyday of the Grand Tour.

The third module (C, 5 credits, prof. Traina) deals with some twentieth-century examples of the procedural theme in literature (Pirandello, Camus, Dürrenmatt), and focuses in particular on the work of Franz Kafka.
