Ilenia Licitra is Assistant Professor of Arabic Language and Literature at the Department of Humanities of the University of Catania. Her current researches mainly concern the employment of rhetorical devices and figurative language in the Arabic poetry and the comics in the Levantine area. Among her most recent publications, the monograph on the Sicilian-Arab poet  al-Ballanūbī, within the series Islamic Sicily: texts, literary and linguistic research (IPOCAN). She has participated in several research projects and numerous national and international conferences. She is affiliated with various research societies and she is currently member of the editorial board  of scientific collections. Since 2011 he has been teaching Arabic language and literature at bachelor's and master's degree courses.

Ilenia Licitra is a Senior Lecturer in Arabic Language and Literature at the Department of Humanities of the University of Catania. Her research primarily focuses on the study of rhetorical devices and figurative language in pre-modern Arabic poetry and Levantine comics.
