Concetto MARTELLO

Concetto Martello participated from 1984 to 1999 as external collaborator and expert in the subject to to the scientific activity of the teachings of History of Ancient Philosophy and History of Medieval Philosophy, taking part in this role in research projects, both of university ( 60%) and national (40% and CNR) coordinated by Francesco Romano. In this period of scientific training two volumes were presented and discussed on as many occasions: on april 27, 1990 Marta Cristiani, professor of the University of Siena, at the invitation of the Chair of History of Ancient Philosophy of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the Catania University, presented and discussed the book “Simbolismo e neoplatonismo in Giovanni Scoto Eriugena”, Univ. Of CT / L’Erma di Bretschneider, Catania / Roma 1986, at the Ursino-Recupero Library of Catania; on January 24, 1999 Alfonso Maierù, professor of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, at the invitation of the Scientific-Didactic Area of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Catania, presented and discussed the book “Fisica della creazione. La cosmologia di Clarembaldo di Arras. Tractatulus super librum Genesis. Testo, traduzione e commento, CUECM, Catania 1998, in a hall of the Benedictine Monastery, seat of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the Catania University. In September 1997 he participated in a training and study stay at the Universities of Leuven and Louvain-La-Neuve under the guidance of Francesco Romano. In May 2000, at the invitation of prof. Francesc Fortuny, has held two seminars at the State University of Barcelona on “The Physical Exegesis of Genesis I in Hugh of Saint Victor” and on “The Eriugenian Ideas on the Cosmology of the Timaeus”. On November 27 and 28, 2006, as part of the seminar activity of the PhD in “Filosofia, scienze e cultura dell’età tardo-antica, medievale e umanistica” (FiTMU) of the Salerno University, he held two lessons on the Summa sententiarum attributed to Ottone da Lucca, respectively concerning the theological sources and contents. At the invitation of the proff. Nicolò Mineo and Sergio Cristaldi, on May 8thm 2014, in the annual “Lectura Dantis Siciliana” at the University of Catania, he held a lesson on “The Convivio and the allegory of poets”. January 2017, as part of the “Dante in Chiesa” review, he held a lecture on “ineffability and rationality of the principle of being and movement. Theology and philosophy in canto I of Dante’s Paradise”. He was among the organizers of the International Seminar entitled “Neoplatonismo pagano vs. neoplatonismo cristiano. Identità e intersezioni”, held in Catania on September 25 and 26, 2004 and attended with a report entitled “Il risveglio di Mnemosyne. La filosofia e le sue divisioni nel XII secolo”, of the XVI National Conference of SISPM – “Società Italiana per lo Studio del Pensiero Medievale” on “Cosmogonie and cosmologie nel medio evo” (Catania, September 22-24, 2006), and of the XII International Congress of the SIEPM – “Société Internationale pour l’Étude de la Philosophie Médiévale” on “Universalità della ragione. Pluralità delle filosofie nel medioevo / Universalité de la raison. Pluralité des philosophies au moyen âge / Universality of Reason. Plurality of Philosophies in the Middle Ages”, which was held in Palermo from 17 to 22 September 2007 and attended with a report entitled “L’uso della filsoofia antica nella teologia di Pietro Abelardo”. Of the first two he also edited the Acts (respectively for the CUECM, Catania 2006, and FIDEM - Fédération Internationale des Instituts d'Études Médiévales, Louvain-la-Neuve 2008), and he collaborated on the second of the four volumes of the Acts of the Third (Officine di Studi Medievali, Palermo 2012). Introduzione, testo, traduzione e note, CUECM, Catania 2001, pp. 100-52), from which was obtained the Spanish translation of M. Aroztegi Esnaola (Lanfranco, El cuerpo y la sangre del Señor, Publicaciones San Damaso, Madrid 2009).
